Description:
The ultimate in greenwashing is TXU-- the biggest polluter in Texas. This ad and others like it make it sound like they're doing great things by reducing their planned coal plants from 11 to 3. It's more like they proposed 11 so they could be approved for 3 and claim they're doing something for the environment. They also don'f talk about how much pollution is coming from their existing coal plants. Commercials like this try to mislead the consumer into thinking their bread and butter isn't filthy power.

I think the windmill clip was greenwashing as it is, they dont even talk about wind energy. And cutting NEW coal plants? Yep, sounds pretty green to me...

The only real "green washing" that clearly stands jumps out is the fact that they are talking about coal plant reductions, yet showing windmills...as if to say that they are putting more windmills to use in place of the coal plants they are choosing to forgo. I actually feel it would be a good ad if they took out the windmill and perhaps even showed a coal burning plant given that coal plants were the only thing mentioned as far as energy sources that they are committed to using. Being green is about being honest, first and foremost.
