Description:
This ad particularly disgusts me as Dow is promoting their company to be socially sustainable and investing in the best interests of humans. If one looks a little further past the veil of Dow you will soon see their history if rife with toxic waste, chemical production, creation of the Agent Orange chemical and countless lawsuits against them for the irreversible grief their "products" have cost people on a wide scale. Their "Human Element" is somewhere closer to greed corruption and extermination then it is to sustainability and equity.

This is an absolutely beautiful ad. Kudos to the writers, the cinematographers, directors, editors, location scouts. It shows the beauty of our planet and the beauty of the human element. However, I have to ask the question - where does Dow Chemical fit into this equation? Because they use natures elements and combine them, via the human element? Perhaps. Is Dow Chemical more environmentally aware now than when it produced Agent Orange? Has Dow chemical helped alleviate the pain and suffering Agent Orange caused and is causing? I have no answers for these two questions and I would have to research the answers.

DOW exemplifies corporate deceit and crime with collusion of state authorities and DO NOT take responsibility for their previous actions (Bhopal is a perfect example). What is the human element" of Agent Orange, breast implants and the over 100,000 chemicals that have been released into the planet's ecosystem. Poisoned workers from pesticides, complex compounds causing a variety of cancers, birth defects from a legacy of chemical warfare... This is the real human element that DOW's legacy leaves for us.

I think this ad presents a great idea that humans have changed nature and it is only with humans that we will be able to save ourselves. Now whether DOW is a part of that is a different question. I don't know. But I like the idea that humans are as much an element of the earth as oxygen.

This coming from DOW CHEMICAL is just sick. How much environmental degradation are they responsible for? How are they changing it and addressing those issues? No word on that, just the best ad copy and vi$uals money can buy.

Despite their past mistakes, it looks like Dow is trying and, in some ways, it has been involved in the community for years. http://www.dow.com/hu/

I agree...how does DOW fit into this human element?" How are they helping to improve the environment? The message sounds good and all but to me it looks like just an image improver...

What ever Dow did in past could be forgiven if they clean up the mess they created in the past and stop messing the planet now. Their past deeds include the world's largest industrial disaster at Bhopal (caused by Dow subsidiary Union Carbide) and agent orange., among others. They shrug away and never take the responsibility of cleaning up the site at Bhopal where over 100,000 people are still suffering from the consequences. So much for a humane company. http://www.bhopal.net/

Absolutely egregious!!--if Dow really cared about the human element they would first take full responsibility for the horrible effects their chemicals have had on people all over the world. This one really makes me angry! More at http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=6748 http://www.bhopal.net/index1.html
